The Alpinia botanical garden

An ode to beauty

Easily accessible by car from Stresa (20min), the Alpinia botanical garden is located on the slopes of Mottarone overlooking the Borromeo Gulf and the islands below. It was founded in 1934 by Igino Ambrosini and Giuseppe Rossi, who chose this location for the rare beauty of the landscape. The privileged climate makes it suitable for numerous Alpine and sub-Alpine botanical species, as well as rare species from the Caucasus, China and Japan. With 40,000 square metres to explore, it is a popular destination for tourists and scholars from all over the world, and the ideal place for a beautiful and fascinating walk.
